Bridging the Gap:

Understanding the Impact of HIV/AIDS on the African American Community for Mental Health Professionals

This continuing education course explores the social, cultural, and systemic factors
that contribute to the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS on the African American
community. Designed for African American social workers and mental health clinicians, this
course provides insights into the challenges faced by clients living with or affected by
HIV/AIDS. It equips professionals with culturally relevant strategies to support their mental
health and well-being. Participants will leave with an understanding of the importance of
stigma reduction, advocacy, and culturally competent care in addressing HIV/AIDS within
this population.
